MEET THE CENTRAL COAST OF CALIFORNIA ARABIAN HORSE ASSOCIATION

The CCCAHA was formed by Arabian Horse owners in the 1960s to create a local group to further the enjoyment of the Arabian breed and increase the knowledge, care, and safe use of the Arabian and Half-Arabian Horse. It is an incorporated, nonprofit organization open to Arabian and Half-Arabian horse owners as well as fans who are not owners. It is affiliated with the national Arabian Horse Association. Since that time, its monthly meetings have provided social, athletic, and educational opportunities to share interests centered on Arabian Horses. Members participate in the the local and national organizations which support and regulate the recreational, professional and charitable activities. As you can see here, its activities take advantage of the versatility of the Arabian horse and assets of the Central Coast.

Some of the members take advantage of the trails and beaches for pleasure riding, independently or at organized times and places. Trail riders take part in trail trials, competitive trail rides, longer rides and in endurance rides of between 25 and 100 miles. For many the motto is, "to finish is to win." A rider's goal may be to finish in better condition or faster personal time than before.

The CCCAHA holds fun days and open local shows for those with a competitive spirit. In the past, it put on Class A shows and may again. The shows include Western, English flat saddle, hunt seat, equitation, and jumping classes. The popular Ranch Horse class may be added. Some shows provide stock classes. Dressage is getting more popular, and it is included in larger horse shows. Arabians are raced at Los Alamitos and other tracks in the country.

Some of the members are involved in breeding, raising and training Arabians. They find satisfaction in the challenge of trying to combine genes to create the beauty, confirmation, performance and disposition they are looking for. This interest includes the history and pedigrees of bloodlines clear back to the original desert bred imports. And who doesn't love the babies!

To be truthful, the first job of a powerful 50 miler, show horse, or valued brood mare may be as the family pet. The close association of the desert nomads had with their horses in order to survive is still evident in close ties of horses and their human families today. "The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man," could have been written about the Arabian Horse.

A common denominator of all these activities can be the sharing of wonderful experiences. Whether it's a barbecue after a ride, a dinner meeting, a lively Christmas party, or a clinic, people gather with other horse lovers. In the Arabian horse world people of many backgrounds, the young and those with more years, the very rich and the not so rich, those with thousands of acres and those with two horses on an acre or a horse at a boarding stable, those raised on a ranch in Montana and some from Manhattan find many interests to share.

CCCAHA would like to invite you to come to the activities...
